Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

1998 HIGHLIGHTS

In Late Fall of 1998 we changed the roof on the house and had new windows installed all but the front ones. We painted the house grey with white trim and added the blue roof. This work was done in November from what I can tell. In September Sonny and Doris came with Elaine and Buddy-o for a visit. I am not sure why but I do not have many pictures of happenings at THE LAKEHOUSE, maybe I will find more. I know I was busy with so many little ones to watch.

This is the catch that Blake threw such a fit about taking a picture of.

Brooke helping Papaw Pat drive the pontoon.

Tuckered out Tanner.

The house was small and kids were many, they thought it was great to play in a tent and sleep there too. Seems I remember a few times when they wanted to sleep... but dang I can remember who it was that actually did make it.... I think Kyle.

There was the day when they all fit in one paddle boat.

All lined up for a jump.

WOW! THATS LOW!

Must have been Labor Day weekend.

Papaw Pat fixing the gate.

Doris and Elaine and I ready to go.

Men fishing as they wait.

This is November and roof complete.

Road view.

Side view from picnic area.

Lake view.

1997 HIGHLIGHTS

1997 we added Tanner but he was too late for summer fun, normally after the 4th of July I am getting ready for annual requal and don't get to make a trip til late August.

I can only imagine that I was so busy for a few years chasing kids that somehow I do not have many photo's of Chloe, Brooke and Tanner when we added them. But hang in there cause in 2000 I got my 1st digital camera and I feel sure the action picks up.

Spring trip with Tyler. Kyle was in school .

Tyler has a nice catch.

Spring break and no need to tell the kids that it was too cold to swim, figured one dip and they have enough.... wrong we were.

Tyler helping drive Greg and Marcia's pontoon boat.

What year was Dad's 66th birthday?

I am not sure what year we added the side porch, I am thinking it may have been 1996.

Mamaw Hand and Faye made this one.

I think this is the wrong year here looking at Blake.

3 fine fishermen. Blake is not happy about this picture, man he threw a fit i will never forget. I won. lol

Blake seems to smell something fishy......or oh wait could it be ....bro?

Chloe and Blake seem to be buds.

Sherri is relaxing or it seems that way.

Blake and Chloe ready to climb.

Look at Dad he's swimming... must be his Birthday.

Andrew is looking and Tyler is not far away.

Papaw Pat made them a diving board. They sure have enjoyed that.

Eric looking so nice with a smile for all.

Josh with a grin ... he just can't hold in.

Muddy Buddies are we?

1995 HIGHLIGHTS

In Febuary of 1995 Pat was working at Browns Ferry in Huntsville. We met at THE LAKEHOUSE... we had both worked off Night Shift. We crashed soon as we got there and woke up to find snow. Both had to leave headed back while the roads were still clear. We were only gonna have a short time off. This is the only time I remember ever seeing snow at THE LAKEHOUSE as of March 2007.

I know that Chloe was born in Febuary but don't seem to be any pics of her. Maybe I am confused cause there are pictures that show Pat was in Arkansas at Russelville working and that Kayla was born in Feb also, lol. Maybe 95 and 96 are confused.

Never tooo cold to fish at these ages.

Looks like a fish fry and plenty to eat.

I think everyone had plenty to eat.

The kids surprised me with a Birthday Party. I had never had them make a big deal on my special day. Made me cry.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!!!!!!!

Watermelon.....mmm mmmm Good!

Brandon and Dustin growing up so tall . They sure are nice youg men.

Everone is full and ready to enjoy the view.

The men folk chillin like we knew they would.

Hannah, Blake and Ali being so good.

This had to be one of our 1st trips to feed the fish.

Kyle and Blake learned early to guide this boat and make it move right along. The yellow boat belonged to Carthal our neighbor but he never used it and was glad to let us borrow it.

Tyler was thirsty.

Tyler is a sleep and Kyle looks pooped and Blake not far behind.
