Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

2003 HIGHLIGHTS

In 2003 we had gotten the newer pontoon boat and could go faster. We took a lake break and took a trip to SIX FLAGS. Hp and Granny made a trip and we all played spades ONLINE. Amy and Phil made a trip to get Whitney after she had been here a week or two. We Replaced the floor on the swim dock this year.

Its Spring and many things to do. Picking up pine tree limbs is not one of them.

Spring and no pine trees. There is definately less yard work and hopefully more grass will grow. Pat is in the process of replacing the swim bock decking. Spring and much to do to be ready for Memorial Day. All the lawn furniture under the tarp will need to be cleaned . I am sure it will not be as bad as it was with all the pine trees.

The work on the swim dock had to be timed just right to keep from having to carry material down the steep walkway, yet in time to get complete before the pier is covered , so we have a place to be.

Spring and water level on the rise. This is just a different view.

May and swim dock complete. The swim pier is covered in water so as you can see we needed this swim dock complete.

Water level is high and it has been higher before, I am just never here to see it. But I have heard that it has gotten to just below the Big Deck flooring.

Here you can see the handrails of the pier. But have no fear if we have water on the rocks the 4th of July we will be doing good.

May and still a little cool.

2 girls in red, ready for fun.

The waffle has been one of the girls favorite floats. Chloe, Ali, Whitney.

This is a challenging thing took many tries for Whitney and Blake to get this worked out.

Hannah, Whitney, Blake, Kyle, Brooke, Chloe and Ali all happy as can be.

When we have had enough fun in the sun , there are still things we can do.

We made a day trip to Six Flags with the whole crew.

We are waiting on the driver then we will all be ready to go.

Pat, Sandra, Headpen(Allen) and Granny.

I have seen something similar to this before . I guess this is one of those family things, lol.

Kyle feeding fish. I think he is gonna get a kiss from the carp.

Amy and Phil made a trip to get Whitney, we enjoyed thier visit.

Nice to pull 2 tubes at a time, we sure are enjoying the bigger better pontoon.

Nice rainbow in the sky. I followed this rainbow all the way from Jasper. I was just hoping that it did not go away or get dark before I got here to take a picture.

This is the 2nd tunnel just around the bend from THE LAKEHOUSE, the 1st one is covered up.

September water level on the fall, this is really not that low at all. Kids love this level for jumping off the pier. The only problem is getting out of the water is a trick. Thankgoodness we have the ladder on the swim deck. Reminds me of the Rock Creek lot where if you went swimming you had to swim til you got to a place to get out. I think that changed when we got the boat dock and there was a ladder there.

2002 HIGHLIGHTS

In 2002 we started the year with our 1st visit from Olivia. Wehad finished the roof and window project in the fall and have a new look for 2002. We cut the pine trees in early spring. Was a big job and they left all the limbs for us to clean. We had several new visitors this year. Blake alo was able to have his Birthday Party here. Christy had her 1st visit and Bud did too.The azaleas were really pretty this year.

This is Olivia's 1st visit to THE LAKEHOUSE.

Winter is kinda bare and not so interesting..
but have to have that to appreciate the color of spring.

The guys enjoyed the closeup look at the carp.
This is the kind of fish we go feed in the boat.

Azaleas are so pretty. I rarely get to see them.

Pine trees are cut and man what a view
and sunshine tooo. The trees provided much
more shade than we thought.

Just a nice picture, kinda gives you spring fever
and makes me miss the pine trees too.

I do not remember the occasion but Buddy
stopped to visit a few on his way to somewhere.

Notice the change in the house, looking good don't you think. Also notice the pine trees this is in the spring before we cut the trees. I really loved the pine trees .... but they were constant work and could not grow grass. I did not think they provided that much shade , lol but I was wrong.

This was definately a working summer . One last cleanup of all the pine tree limbs and brush. Chris and the kids all helped when they came to visit. They had to earn thier keep.

Brooke helped to clean the pine
tree limbs tooo.

We really appreciated the help.

Chris taking a break.

This is just a GREAT VIEW!!!!!

Take a look at the grey house and blue roof.

The green stuff growing is watermelon,
guess we ate too much here and the new
sunshine sure makes things grow.

After a summer of sun and watermelon
we had watermelon vines grow in our picnic area.

Mason and Blake enjoy some lake time.

Feeding the fish with all the crew.

Josh had success at getting on the jetski.

Time to get a snack and rest a few.

This is the old paddle boat we have borrowed
for years. There is just no way to sink this boat.

Marcia, Brody and Emily enjoy the cool water.

What better way to cool off anf clean up from the pine tree work than to take a swim.

It was not all work we had plenty of tme to pla. paddleboat races. I think Chloe and Seth were the winners.

Wonder if there is a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow.

I do get to relax and take a swim. Like I say if it din't get done by noon it just has to wait.

All the gang at Rock Creek Marina to feed the fish.

Muddy Buddies!!!!!!

Ali took a mud bath and at no cost to her.

Chloe looks like she is teaching the guys a thing or 2.

Christie's first visit to the lake and we all hope she enjoys it as much as we do.

Susan and Chris taking some chill time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAKE!

Now this is a crew......Gosh..... I am not sure I can name them all. Josh, Hannah, Tayler, Blake, Nick, Kyle, Tyler, Jacob, Seth, Emily and Tanner.

Late summer and a whole new crew to see the fish.
