Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

1979 IN THE BEGINNING

Mom and Dad bought THE LAKEHOUSE in the early summer of 1979. Until then we would go to THE TRAILER on Rock Creek. It was a very small slough with only deep water and straight up from the lake to the trailer. If you went swimming it was a pain to get out because there was no where to get out, unless you went over to the next lot to climb out. I remember when Chris was a baby we had to put a playpen in a boat that did not run to have a level place to put him. The boatdock was the only level spot to even put a folding chair. I think the convience of THE LAKEHOUSE and the fact that Susan and Sherri were teenagers and no phones at the old lake lot and so far away with teenage stuff and school stuff, along with the fact that Tracy and Chris were living at Mom's until I got settled in a job in Mississippi were big reason that THE LAKEHOUSE ever came be. Here are a few pictures of the early days at THE LAKEHOUSE. We fished and did some of the same things we do today.

I am not sure this is 1980, but until someone tells me I am wrong, I will leave it this way. I did npot get Pat until 1981 so I have to be close.

Oh My GOSH!!!! I just realise the bar stool is the same one that has always been there and I just replaced.

There was not a front porch when use to go to THE LAKEHOUSE. One of the renters had Mom buy the materials and he would build a porch.

A blanket and the ground was all we had for a place to be.

The pier was not there when Dad bought the place, there was a smaller old pier with no rails. I am thinking we built what we know as the pier the 1st summer , probably on the 4th of July. I think that must have been in 1981? Does anyone remember ?

The orange boat was GREAT! The best thing Dad ever bought. I remember the old lake lot and trailer on Rock Creek and took forever to get there. Every weekend we would get the boat out of the shop on Friday and go to the lake get all excited and spend the rest of the weekend getting the boat out of the lake and back to the shop. I can't seem to find any pictures of there but I know I must have some somewhere.
