Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

MARCH ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ADDITION BEGINS!!!!!!!!

MARCH has just flown by.....I am soooo excited that time is moving faster. Things have slowed down some at work finally and hopefully the plant will run smoother til the Fall outage(my last refuel outage). We did not do much for Easter as I worked the night before. Pat did go to get Whitney ON Sunday morning. I baked the rabbit cake and Whitney and Blake decorated it. We carried our cake and went to Tracy's to visit with the gang there a lil bit and see the latest on the new room. The room looks really good. Watching them do this and of course Spring fever too has had me into the lakehouse bedroom addition.

WE really enjoyed our visit with Whitney this week...Pat did especially... I had to work and was kinda a zombie swapping from nights to days with only 24 hrs between. I am jealous and can't wait til this J O B does not get in my way. Pat and Whitney went to eat lunch one day and he carried her shopping one day since I was working so much and she would have to go home before I got an off day. They did a wal mart run and went to the riverfront. I am not sure what else they did, but Whit seemed to be pleased. The boys were in school so I guess she got kinda bored but did have plenty of time to sleep and use the computer. The boys love to make their own pizza's and Whitney joined right in on the supper time fun. I think we woke Whitney every morning getting off to work and school. We are in a morning time adjustment with me back on days and the boys leaving earlier for school because of the grounding from the truck because of grades. Poor Kyle Monday morning he could not get out of my way ... I was running late could not get to the stove to cook my breakfast cause he was cooking his. By the end of the morning we had worked thru that problem:) It did not help that I was doing the turn around from nights and I was kinda grumpy, lol. But Kyle still loves me anyway.

Thursday Pat carried Whitney to meet Amy and drove across the northern part of Mississippi to get to the lakehouse and I left after work and met him there. I was 10pm getting there. I did make a stop at Target in Tuscaloosa to buy the Miracle Foam Mattress topper like we have on our bed in Mississippi.

Friday morning we got up to start our wheeling and dealing for the monies to do the bedroom addition which will start next week. That went real well and was surprised at how soon this can all happen. The lady at the bank we dealt with we discovered was our neighbor and not only that she is the owner of Flash, the Basset Hound that likes to visit us. We ate lunch at the Landing and I was disappointed again. I guess I am just gonna have to find me a new place to eat. I have decided they bread the shrimp to make them Jumbo. When we got back to the lake we took one jet ski and launched it and went on a ride on the lake ....it was great the weather was warm and the water was so smooth....I really enjoyed it.. I hope to do that again before I go back to Mississippi.

We also had a buyer for the old bass boat come buy and made that deal happen.. that will replace some money Pat spent on the newer bass boat. Today I hope to get the newer bass boat and the other jet ski put in the lake.

WE met with the contractor in the late afternoon and went over the final plans on the bedroom addition and the garage and patio area. This will start this coming week and prob mess up the entire summer, but its a price we have to pay to ever get what we want... and heck I rather it mess up 6 months of the time I am working than 6 months of my 1st year off, lol. We will just have to deal with it. The kids are all kinda got mixed feelings because they see it as being not done by vacation time and possible requiring extra work from them, or preventing their visit. The visiting will be not as desired I am sure but I think we can survive it. I was hoping to be finished by June but that will not happen. I was hoping to be finished by 4th of July but that will not happen. Brandon....they have assured me that they will not be here on the 4th of July working and that they will leave everything cleaned up for the weekends. So we will have that family gathering and celebrate your birthday as planned..... It was really nice to wake up these mornings and see the lake. The fishermen have been out and there is some big tourney going on this weekend and our area seems to be popular to fish, we watched fishermen all day. The Fishing tourney will go on this next week and Pat will be here to meet the pro fishermen at several events if he chooses to. Sounds like a fun time to me. They will compete all week There are 400 fishermen in this tourney. see the link below for the Daily Monutain Eagle post. http://www.mountaineagle.com/NF/omf/eagle/news_story.html?rkey=0106232+cr=gdn

I guess we can say we have officially broke ground on our Lakehouse project.... Pat moved rose bushes and shrubs that were in the way of digging footers. Randy came by and had a new chainsaw he wanted to try out on a dead hickory tree I have been wanting cut out of my future bedroom lake view , so he done that for me.....So the fun begins. I noticed the pine tree that was growing in the azalea bed was gone.. I assumed that Pat had got rid of it last time we was here but discovered that a beaver had cut it....we are now on beaver watch.

I have to go back to work for at least a week and possibly 2 before I get to come check stuff out...but Pat will be here some of the time sending me pictures each day of the progress so I can make my weekly postings and keep us all informed.

The azaleas are just beginning to bloom. I will probably miss them again...but Pat should get me a good picture of them in full bloom.

Have you ever been mooned by a duck?????
