Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

CARS or should I say VANS

I guess My brother got me all stirred up on a new vehicle with this CLUNKER DEAL stuff going on. It helped that Pat had a clunker I would just love to get rid of, and he was willing. We started out gonna trade for a small car for me to drive back and forth to MS and for us to travel in. I realized if it was gonna be my vehicle it was not gonna get it. I love my van and going from a van to a small car I can not do. There are 2 things Pat and I can not share (OK there are many) but a checking account and a automobile are at the top of the list. WE decided that I would get a new van and he would drive the old one for a bit and we would get a good used truck at some point, IF we could qualify for the clunker deal.We started looking on Sunday when no one was around to bug us, then on Monday as I left Bama I stopped to make a deal and see if we qualified for the clunker deal on a mini van. I will not bore you with all my dealer tales but, they said I did not qualify after about 2 hours lol. I left and headed on to Vburg, stopping in Tuscaloosa, Meridian and Vburg looking at various cars, vans, etc. I found they sure have added some nice features since I bought my van 9 years or so ago. Some of these features seem to be made just for me lol. I shopped on Tuesday bright and early after dropping kids off at school, then again on Wednesday all day long.I just can't seem to get the loaded van for the price of a semi-loaded one lol. I finally decided that I had the perfect van for me and the best price I was going to get so I called Pat to bring the clunker on home.
My sweet hubby did really good saying bye to his truck. I think Kyle was a little upset with me about getting rid of Papaw's truck, lol.
It was a busy day, but we managed to get some of the paperwork done before Pat got there, between picking up Tyler at school and taking him for a physical and then picking him up to take back to school. Tyler has been accepted on the football team and has Dr. approval to do sports again he is excited and so are we.

You can see my new van is so shiny that it looks like a mirror and shows my old van which is parked in the old trucks parking spot.

Friday I think Pat and I began to appreciate my retirement, we took care of stuff we needed to do then met to just cruise in the van. We rode to Clinton mid day just because we had nothing better to do and went to eat late lunch early supper at Chik-Fil-A and have a peach milk shake. It was very good and very relaxing to just be chillin. Pat drove me home so I could check out snoozing in the passenger seat. It works even better than in the old van, lol. I really wanted to play with the bucktooth phone feature and set up the phonebook while he drove....but it will not allow me to add to the phonebook unless the car is in park. I did set up some names in the phone book when I was home and it works pretty good. I tried the headsets with the dvd player and all that worked fine. The 6 changer cd player is nice too, no more visors full of music, I can just load 6 cd's and plug in my mp3 player if I don't want the cd's.

Saturday, I woke up early and let Blake drive me and the new van to the donut shop. He likes it too, lol. The remainder of Saturday is spent cleaning the house and yard. So much work to do to get caught up after the summer of fun. I actually have worked on the house some every night this week, I have not allowed myself to play with my sewing machine this week until I get things caught up. I hope that by Monday I can spend some time doing some regular sewing before I go to the sewing club class on Tuesday, lol. This will be the first club meeting I have been able to attend and I am looking forward to it, I just hope I don't slow down the monthly project.
