Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

Saturday May 24th

We have had a good day inspight of everything. I will call this the day 2 we all practiced PATIENCE and TEMPER CONTROL. As I stop and think back over the day maybe it was even a MIRACLE. Last night Kyle and Josh went out for a bit and even let Hannah go with them, they were in early and not much going on because of Graduations at many of the local schools.

I think Kyle learned a few things early today. 1- Mamaw is not the only one that interrogates. 2. Maybe Kyle knows where I got my interrogation training from. It seems Kyle and Josh came in the back door at Mom's at 430 a.m. and privated detective Junior Myhand discovered later that there were some strange tire tracks in unusual places, like the grass and weeds. Papaw Junior just knew the boys (Kyle and Josh) had sneeked out and gone out again after bed time and had drove in wierd to keep from running over the bell. Dad has had a bell across his drive for as long as I can remember that you have to run over when you come up his driveway. Mom sent the boys to bed seems they looked as if they had no sleep all night. When actually they had slept some, but Josh could not sleep and woke Kyle to go out and listen to the music in Kyle's truck...while talking Kyle was telling Josh about a strange noise his truck was making at times and decided to let him hear the noise....so he drove around a bit behind the shop and maybe even out toward the neighbors I guess thru the grass area a bit and Papaw Junior just knew they were guilty and had made up the truck noise story. I happened to call during the interrogation... I will say my Grandson's are not Angels and I know them pretty well. I also know my Dad pretty well. I was pretty sure that Kyle was telling the truth and I could not imagine him leaving in the night like that and sneeking out...... he knows one night is not worth all the nights he would miss going out and all the pain of no wheels to go anywhere. Kyle managed to make a believer out of Papaw Junior that they were telling him the truth. You just never know what boys will do when they get with other boys.. but I will say so far Kyle has been very responsible. After the interrogation Kyle, Josh and Hannah went by and got Chloe and they all cam to the lake for more fun in the sun. We all knew this day would come when our lil ones were teenagers and driving. It was kinda nice for Mom and Susan today I think, lol. However, Mom did make comment about she knew the day would come but she was not ready for the teenager scene. Mom and Dad joined us for grilled burgers and hotdogs tonight. It was nice to get some time with them.

We finally got everyone ready to go out on the lake and all loaded with towels and cooler. And guess what the Pontoon would not crank. We were out of the boat slip and it just would not crank, even though 30 minutes earlier Pat had cranked it just fine. Well we were down to only one jetski that runs. Pat is so mad and he did really good... I am pissed.. not sure if I am mad at the pontoon or if maybe Pat should have done something to be more ready before I got here, lol, but I keep my mouth shut. We both did really good we just hooked the tube to the remaining jetski and sent 3 kids at a time out on the lake for fun. I felt really deprived and wanted t0 fuss cause the fishing boat was still not in the lake and we could have used it to get out on the lake to watch. I again kept control and mad e the best of it. The kids had fun and got blistered some.

There was plenty to do inside when taking a break from the sun. The kids have really enjoyed the Guitar Hero and the computers as well.

The boys played football in the water as they have for many years. Many generations too.

Our one remaining watercraft was giving a problem before the day was over. This is pretty discouraging for us as we have spent many hundreds of dollars since last summer and thought we were ready for a full summer of fun. I just keep thinking no way am I gonna be on vacation and no boat.

Josh and Chloe wait patiently while the jetski and 3 are out and about and Pat continues to try to get the pontoon going.
Tyler looking so cool and realizes he is not missing out on much because of his illness. We are just so glad he has joined us for some time even if he can't participate in all the water stuff.
Pat and I sat of the big deck and contemplate what to do about our Money Pit/...... There was a nice breeze most of the day. We got the umbrellas and fans in place on the deck.

Kyle's getting up early caught up with him.
