Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

April is almost gone, already.

The week is gone and I have tried to get my Retirement papers filed all week and never did succeed. Monday I had no Supervisor and no one in my office to do work but me. Tuesday I had a boss but he was in meetings all day . Wednesday, no supervisor again and I had some assessment guy watching what I do all day but I did called my supervisors boss to get him to do it and no answer, so I left a message, never heard from him. Thursday, My goal today was the same and again I had this guy watching me, my supervisor of the day said he would but he thinks it has to be the one who signs my time sheet, which has been in training this week, so I called him and he does not know what to do but will do it if I can get to the training center as I head home. On my way out I see my higher supervisor that I had left a message, and asked if he got my message, explained what I needed AND GEEEESH, he asked me to wait until Monday. So now I get to chase bosses again next week.

I embroidered me a T-shirt to wear to work on Friday (casual day) to express myself, or maybe to get someones (boss) attention. Probably was not a smart thing to do, lol. I felt pretty safe since I can't find a boss on weekdays, I was sure an OFF Friday would be safe.

Some of my other projects for this week.

This weekend was kinda quiet but I enjoyed being home and getting some things done. I guess the biggest thing that happened this weekend was a surprise for Kyle. Chris had told the kids they were going to do something special on Sunday. They had no clue it meant get up early and leave home about 830. They did not know where they were going, but all got ready and went. They had been gone about an hour when I started getting text messages from Brooke, she was upset. She asked is Dad really going to put Kyle in the military, he said we were meeting Popa and Ina in Meridian and taking Kyle to the military. Of course I knew where they were going, but did not let on. She text me for about 45 minutes, I would ask her questions like " Where are you?" She said," We just passed Bass Pro Shop." Well, you are headed toward Meridian." I asked , "Is Kyle upset?" She said, "I don't know, but I am." She does love her big brother Kyle very much and has really gotten close to him this past year living here. I gave her no relief and finally she text me and said Dad is kidding, she had text him and asked, lol. He had text her back. I did not hear anything more until they got home. They had met Popa and Ina in Meridian to get Kyle's graduation present. Tiny (Popa) gave Kyle his truck. Kyle was thrilled, had no clue. He is so proud and excited. He has to wait until Tuesday to drive it to school, because Chris has to get the insurance and tag stuff taken care of on Monday.

The truck is a 1996 Dodge, but well taken care of, since Tiny drives a company truck to work. I think it has 108k miles on it which is less than anything else parked in our driveway, lol. I tried to borrow it for m=next weekend to move some stuff to Bama, but i got turned down, lol.

Pat is back in Bama and hopefully he will get things caught up at the lake and keep the contractor focused on getting finished, lol.

OH!!! What a Weekend! What a Wedding!!!

I just don't know where to begin, other than to say we had a GREAT time, at a GREAT wedding for a GREAT couple. I will post some pictures for those who were unable to attend to get a peek, while waiting on the Happy Bride and Groom to get time to catch everyone up. I know they will be busy on their honeymoon in Aruba, hope they don't mind. I did not take any pictures during the wedding, I just wanted to enjoy the moments and I have very few of just the bride and groom, but I have some of them with family that I am proud to post.

Ready and waiting to go to rehearsal dinner.

We left Mississippi at 5:30 on Friday morning and arrived in Katy, Texas about 2:30. We ran into family at the hotel immediately. The wedding party was headed to wedding rehearsal and we would meet up with them later at the rehearsal dinner. It had rained in Katy, Texas and would even rain more on the wedding day. I think it rained 5 inches while we were there. The wedding rehearsal dinner was a fun time. The power was off when we got there and the 1st hour was spent in the dark, other than candles in the table decorations. The food was very good and we all ate too much. I enjoyed the slide show once the power was back on. I'm not sure what time we made it back to the hotel but I was pretty tired from a long day and not much sleep the night before. The kids all stayed up late in Tracy's room and I got some much needed rest.

Saturday we woke to rain and thunder and lightning. We met up with family and friends in the lobby for breakfast and visited for a bit. I sure wanted to go back to bed and just sleep while it was raining, the weather was perfect for that, however I had promised the kids we would check out the mall. The Katy Mills Mall is quiet unusual in that it is a circle. You start out and just tour the whole mall and wind up where you started from. We saw many interesting things there and everyone managed to find something they could not live without, lol. Although it had been raining ever since we got to Katy, as soon as we were in the mall it really, really rained and stormed. I could just see us getting blown away in a strange town and no clue where we were blown to, lol. We ate lunch and then back to the hotel for a quick nap and then get showered and dressed for the wedding. The weather was so bad and so many clouds that our GPS would not even talk to the satellite, I was afraid we were going to miss the wedding by getting lost. We did have a small problem finding the wedding site, but a phone call to my bro and he talked us right to the gate.

Just about the time we got to the wedding the sun popped out, lol. The wedding was planned for outside with a backup plan for inside. I can't imagine the wedding would have been any prettier outside than it was inside. They were able to get some pictures outside after the wedding. The wedding was very nice and the bride and groom did not seem nervous, they just really looked great and I enjoyed being up front where I could hear every word they spoke and see every facial expression they made. I am sure they have some things they will share about their wedding day, so I will just leave it at that and post some pictures.

Pictures taken after the ceremony and before the reception and as you can see everyone had a very nice time.

Emma did a great job as flower girl and enjpoyed the night making it one we will all remember.

Happy Easter!

Some how it just did not seem like Easter here today, but we did have Easter dinner and Brooke had helped me make the Easter bunny cake yesterday and also the Peanut butter delight that I had posted a link to several weeks ago. Brooke now has a new favorite desert and told me I need to make this again. I also made Pat's favorite Cherry cream cheese pie. Tracy and gang all came to visit. This is the 1st year in about 18 that we have not hid eggs, in fact we did not even dye eggs. The Easter bunny brought various Easter goodies to the kids, but no baskets etc. I wore my Easter apron and cooked, lol. I discovered I like wearing an apron and the neatest thing is that the pocket can be used to stuff a dish towel in and I always have a dish towel handy. The pocket can also be used to keep the cell phone in and it is always close. I have decided I need one for every holiday as well as an everyday one. When I was in wal mart this weekend I found out that they were selling out all the fabric at 50% off. I had to check it out and lets just say I bought several pieces that I thought I could use for various things and even went back this morning to buy a few more pieces that I thought of a use for. I have got to stay out of the fabric stores. I know I will not be doing much sewing until after July. I just can't get enough time to do all I want to do with my sewing machine fast enough, lol. I know that I will be busy with outdoor stuff in a few weeks and probably forget all about my sewing desire. The girl cutting fabric for me showed me a gift someone had brought her, which was a personal pillow case, so I thought hmmm I can do that and try out my regular sewing part of my machine. So I did and it worked out really good. I will post a few pictures of my new adventures with my machine. I have been a lil disappointed that my grand kids are not wanting me to embroidery stuff for them, I need some t-shirt practice, as I have only done the ones for the little kids and I was not completely satisfied with the outcome of them. I have shirts just waiting for them to decide what they want on them.

This is the pillowcase I made. I have an idea for several to make.

These bags I posted a picture of the other side earlier but I added more to them.

This coming week we will all be getting last minute things done for the Texas wedding trip. We are soooo looking forward to it. I should have some pictures to post of that next week. Until next post stay safe.

The Rest Of My Weekend.

One of the reasons for my trip to Bama was to move my TV and the rest of the entertainment center cabinet. My van was really loaded down, but the trip went well and I don't really have anything else that big to move. I will bring my new sewing machine and my Wii and the TV that goes with it about the middle of May. Pat will take the deep freeze back to the lakehouse his next trip.

The other thing I had planned to do while I was there was plant my garden and we got that done Saturday afternoon. Its gonna be cool a few days but Pat is there to protect the garden. Don't laugh at my garden, I hear this works great and we will see how it goes.

The green storage boxes have squash in them there is actually one more next to the deck. There are 12 five gallon buckets have Better boy tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, banana pepper and bell pepper in them.

Saturday evening we grilled steaks and and we found out That Rando was fixing boston butt and had one cooking for us. Rando has done this several times for us and we sure do enjoy it. He is no doubt my favorite bro in law on my side of the family. Susan brought it to us and we had bbq pork on Sunday before heading back to Mississippi. It will be 3 weeks before I go back to Bama and surely they will be finished..but I doubt they will since Pat and Larry are probably going to finish the rock work and Pat is gonna be here for about 10 days... this has taken forever and I am tired of talking about it, lol. They have wore me down until most things I just say do what ever just get finished. If it something important to me thou I stand my ground and fight tooth and nail to get what I want.
