Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

Monday, June 4th

The morning was almost quiet, only a snore from Chris, lol. I cooked chocolate and biscuits for breakfast. Blake was the 1st one to stir and he went out to check on Papaw, who was checking on the yoyo's. Seems we caught a snake last night. I have not seen any so far but we always catch a couple this time of year at night.

It was a very sunny morning and I thought Chris was gonna get a sunburn before he woke, I guess I am gonna have to make deciding on shade/blinds or something for the windows in front a priority..... love the view but mornings from 6 to 9 are tough.

We left about 10:00 headed to Rock
Creek to feed the carp. Blake had the jetski to himself.

Brooke and Tanner rode the tube.

The marina at Rock Creek was closed but we were prepared... we had our
own bread and was able to feed the fish.

It was a very nice quiet pontoon ride. I think its the 1st ride to feed the fish I ever took without kids on board, lol. Blake wanted to ride the tube back home so I had to drive the jet ski. Brooke and I rode all around Rock Creek looking for Patrick Swazey on our way back. We got home and ate some lunch and set out to watch a movie... well it was not long until Chris was asleep... then I saw Tanner find his spot... I could not get interested in movie and was playing spades and gosh I fell asleep and got foefeited in my game so heck I went to bed for a nap, lol. Of course the phone rang and woke me and I never did go to sleep. I think everyone took a nap but Brooke and Papaw and they were fishing.

Late afternoon, Marcia came over with Seth and Brody and the kids all swam while we visited. Tanner took full advantage of Brody being younger than him and was getting revenge for all the things the older kids had done to him for the last week.

I grilled hamburgers and hotdogs while Chris and the kids played football in the lake and Kyle got a jet ski ride.

Tanner's friend FLASH joined us again this afternoon... seems to be an afternoon thing going on here.

After supper we all gathered in the pavillon to visit and make SMORGS.... Josh came to spend the night with us after he did his weight lifting for football. Josh and Kyle serinated us with the guitar. It was a very nicenight out and some lightning in the distance. The rain and wind ran us in after a bit. I am thinking tomorrow night we may get some more guitar time at the fish fry.
