Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

Mid Week Report. Wednesday,June 18th

MONDAY.....

Chloe spent the night Sunday night and this was taken right after midnight...as you can tell they are winding down.

We woke up early with the loudest hammers I have ever heard. We knew this was gonna be a noisy day so we planned to get out as soon as we could. We went to the cliffs..... Blake, Chloe and Tyler jumped... and now Blake can not jump from the cliffs anymore.... kinda funny cause he has ragged Kyle so much about not being able to.... I admire them all I can't do it.

Some one took this picture of us ... we have very few taken of us so I decided I should post it.

We stopped at a new place on the way back from the cliffs that we now call the little cliffs. I think it will be a favorite spot. We watched folks jump from there last year but never got a chance to check it out. We were in a bit of a hurry and I don't remember why but I did not get many pictures.

This picture made the post because Brooke said look at them .... Raising the Bar.

After the pontoon trip the workers were still just as noisy so we loaded up and some went to Blockbuster and I went to wal mart to pick up Tyler's medicine.. Pat stayed home and believe it or not Tyler took a nap. I was not successful on getting the meds.

TUESDAY......

Tuesday morning Brooke and I got up early and went to Wal mart to get meds and to get some other things we needed. We made a loop by Moms and picked up Hannah to join us for the day. We were just getting ready to take the pontoon trip when Dustin called and was in town so we waited for him. We had another great visit with Dustin and even got him on the tube. We tied the other tube to the pontoon and we could pull 2 with pontoon and tube and some on the jet ski tube. Pat fell in the lake trying to tie the rope on the tube, lol. He was not hurt but now his cell phone is broke too. My screen had gone out in NC last week but I have had use of Kyle's since he is still grounded from it. I guess 1st chance I get I have to either buy a GO PHONE to put my SIM card in or find an affordable deal on another phone... our contract can not be renewed until November.

Hannah and Brooke relaxing, tubing and talking.
Dustin and Chris both were trusting of Kyle and rode the tube while he drove the jet ski. I think they both decided they might be too old for this, lol.

Tyler texting and eating pretzels... what a life.
Tyler took a turn as driver to give Kyle a break.... he sure would like to get Kyle on that tube lol.
This is a favorite spot we call rock island and the rock gets much bigger as the water goes down.

I found out the workers wanted to get us another bathroom going quick so I took off to Home Depot to get fixtures ....but was unsuccessful and was too late to go to Bull Building Supply.

Hannah spent the night ....oh and I worked on her computer off and on all day between activities and YES!!! I got it running right.

WEDNESDAY....

I got up and went to Bulls to buy bathroom stuff. Pat followed me and brought a truckload of stuff home for the workers. I still have to buy the stuff for my Bathroom ..but wanted to wait until later. I am getting excited about having more bathrooms. It is a challenge with so many folks and so few bathrooms. I called about the meds and still no meds so I did not go to Walmart. I returned just in time to get everyone moving to get beds put up and house in order so we could take the pontoon ride. Chloe came to join us. We went to the lil Cliffs.

The girls and Kyle were doing the tube and we all went to swim. Tyler found a perfect rock to stretch out in the sun.... was a great breeze and even cool if wet.

After a bit the jet ski did not show so we went to see what the trouble was..... they were not far away but moving slowly.... we tied the jet ski off to the pontoon and carried everyone back to lil cliff to play before a slow trip home. We had to cut the fun short cause Chloe had swim practice at 430 and Hannah had to go to church. Brooke wanted to jump so bad and did but not from the spot she wanted to. This is really a nice place to explore.

Tonight we fixed the homemade pizza and Chloe came back to join us after her swim practice. The workers made a lot of progress today and I can almost see a new bathroom by the weekend, lol. Too bad we all will be leaving about the time we get another bathroom.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!

We celebrated last night but we did treat those around us today as special as we could, lol. Phone calls were made and phone calls were recieved. I cooked a big breakfast and then Chris and his kids headed to Pell City to visit his Dad. Pat relaxed most of the day. It was a real quiet day. Chloe came to keep Tyler company and do some things on the internet. I did bake some cupcakes for the occasion. We all went for a swim and then I cut the watermellon I have been wanting for several days.

It was a R&R day and I think we were ready for one.

Saturday, June 14th

Today we were able to sleep in a little later since there were no hammers, but we were still up by 8 a.m. I cooked the chocolate and biscuits that was requested for breakfast and then we took out for 1 more lake trip before Tracy, Tanner and Drew had to leave. Tyler decided to stay with us until I go back to Mississippi. There had been rain around 4 a.m. and we had to stay close as it looked like we could get more. We went tubing for a bit and stopped to check out the bridge swing area. The water level is higher than it was late last summer when we discovered the fun at the bridge and we had to park further away due to rocks. When we examined the area it was not safe looking so we just swam there a bit and decided to watch for a few days and see what others were doing there. The water seemed to shallow to the rocks to swing from the rope that was hanging.

Tracy left about noon and we basically grabbed lunch and spent the the rest of the time til 3:30p.m. rotating thru the bathroom getting ready to go out to eat. It sure will be nice to have more bathrooms, lol. Randy was taking Dad out for Fathers day and invited us all to join them so we decided we would. We took a scenic route and carried the kids to see the other side of the dam. They had never seen it except from the water side. They were no as impressed as one would think. Tyler and Brooke did not get out of the van, lol.

We had a good group show up at THE ANGLER restaurant. Dustin and Jacy were able to join us as well. We all filled up on the coleslaw and corn bread and even ordered appetizers before our meal was ready. I think everyone enjoyed the meal and it was all very good. We took a different route home and basically we drove a complete circle thru 3 counties and around the lake. Randy and Glenda and Mom and Dad stopped by the house to visit more before they headed on home. It has really been a nice week spent visiting with family members.

2nd Week of June.....continued

THURSDAY..

I got word on my way home from SIX FLags that Rando had cooked Boston Butts for BBQ while we were gone and would fix baked beans, cole slaw and bring to us at the lakehouse for lunch....HE IS MY HERO AND MY FAVORITE BRO IN LAW. There is no way to explain how much I appreciated that. So on Thursday we had a play day on the lake and lunch. Mom and Dad came to visit and we even got to see Josh and Hannah again.

The Food was GREAT!!!!!!

The company was BETTER!!!!!

Nice to play in the water all day.

The boys enjoyed some water play.

Late in the day we took a pontoon ride. We wanted Drew to see the cliffs and all to ride the jetski that could. The jet ski was fixed and Pat got it back on Tuesday, while I was traveling.

Brooke gets her 1st Jet ski ride of the summer.

We had a relaxing ride until the thunder and lightning started......We headed home a little too late andall felt the sting of the rain drops and were soaked when we got here... Chloe joined us later in the night after her swim meet so she will be here to start the early day with us tomorrow.

I think the contractor has a better understanding of why I need all the extra room he is adding on now. He has been working on the back deck and the basement entry this week as well as wiring the bedrooms.

FRIDAY......

The big plan for today was to take Drew to feed the fish. We left after breakfast to get an early start to get back before the afternoon thunder storms. We packed drinks and some snacks and off we go to see the fish. We pulled the tube with the jet ski and all the kids had a blast.

Chloe was a good watcher when it was not her turn to tube.

Kyle was the official tube puller.

Tyler went tubing too.

Those in the pontoon passsed the time on the trip by helping Papaw Pat drive or just by listening to tunes.

Tanner driving the pontoon.

Drew driving the pontoon.

On the return trip we stopped at an old favorite swim spot to swim and play a bit and reminise about times long ago (1975 -1978) when mom and Dad had the lake lot on Rock Creek.

After lunch we took a swim to the tunnel and just played in the lake. The water is really nice.

Chris and all his little ducklings swimming back from the tunnel.... no rocks were thrown and no blood was shed.

We did have the afternoon thunderstorm but we were all safe inside and dry. Tracy and Chris rented movies and we had an early night of movies and relaxing. Some got a lil too much sun today but I think they will survive.

2nd Week of June

This will be a long post to catch up on the happenings of my vacation while I have been on the road.

MONDAY-
Chris and I left at 6 a.m. and drove to Charlotte, NC to be able to see Brooke graduate the 5th grade. It was a long drive and I must say the GPS thingy came in very handy and was GREAT! I appreciated it very much that trip, however I think I donlt pay as much attention to the landmarks and things while I am being told where to go. I can see it woukld be easy to rely on the GPS and then if without it be totally lost... kinda like I was this triop when the screen to my cell phone went out. I did not know anyone's number and could not see the screen to make a call. We picked up Brooke and her things then followed her Mom and family to eat Pizza. We had a nice visit with Brooke's other Grandparents as well. I will say I was exhausted that night...Brooke was able to go with us to the hotel to spend the night. She watched TV with Chris in his room then slept with me.

TUESDAY

Tuesday we got up early to have Brooke at school. We met her teacher and friends. It was a nice Graduation and class party afterwards.

We took a different route and drove back to Georgia for Tuesday Night. We went to Brandon's to see where he lived and visit with him and his family. Dustin met us there. It has been probably 3 years since Chris and Brandon have been able to visit. We enjoyed the kids very much, they are just precious is all I can say. Very plesant and happy kids. They are very friendly kids. They knew we were there to be intertained and they did a good job. Emma showed us her room and all the special lil area's in it. She had to show us how she can make the rocky horse rock and climb in the rocking chair to plunder in her dresser drawer. Just too cute....
WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday we got up later than the other days, we were only about 45 minutes from Six Flags. We all met up at 10:00 a.m. as planned. We had a total of 21 of us there. It was a perfect day. The crowd was not bad and the weather was plesant. We all made a plan to meet at 2 p.m. and set out to have some fun. Many of us trailed along with Brandon and Christy to watch the kids for the 1st time.

Where do we start?

We even rode some rides with Brandon's group.

Pat and I tried as best we could to fill in for Grandmother and Pop's (Glenda and Randy) We all missed them being there. I am thinking we will try this trip again.
The different groups went searching for fun.
We all enjoyed the free refills on the big drinks. The lines were longer as the day went by.
Getting the afternoon plan together while breaking for lunch. We did stand in lines but they really were not bad.

We saved the water rides until last and those are my favorite.

The different groups come trailing in at the day end.
Kyle and Josh finally appear at the end of the day.

Kyle picking on me after a long day and not a dry hair or a dry thread.
The time has come for all to gather together for the trip home.

The Girls eating at Mcdonalds after SIX FLAGS and before the trip home.

I think all had a great time. No one lost their cell phone and no one got lost and everyone was prompt on meeting times. A VERY VERY PLEASANT TRIP.
