Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

It is Mid February already, and now I am sure that January is the longest month of the year.

Things have been going good here. The kids got their progress reports this week and looks like everyone is doing GREAT, however Chris did not lift the groundings and Kyle was dissapointed, but he took it like a man. It sure makes you mad that he can do real good when he wants to, so why does he slack off and make so bad knowing he will be grounded until report cards come again. I will never understand kids, lol. I know when I was in school I always knew what my average was in a class and what I needed to make to put my average where I wanted it. It just seems today kids just take whatever they get and don't really have a clue what they have until too late.

I have been busy as a bee this week, I have been trying to build new habits in my house cleaning and using the Wii to get more exercise. I have really been getting into surfing BLOGS and I have run across a couple sites that I wish I had known about when my kids were small. Check them out if you are interested, they are www.flylady.net and www.housefairy.org. It may seem kinda silly to some, but it really does work. I just wish I had more time to be home and work the system, lol. I am basically building new house cleaning habits and routine for when I am retired so I can keep my house clean and have more time to do the things I want. This is working good for me and I am not working myself that hard. This week I have cleaned my sink and made it shine and kept it shiny all week and I also have started building the habit of swish and swipe in my bathroom every morning after I get dressed for work, takes just a couple minutes and my bathroom looks like it was just cleaned every day. I have decluttered and organized under my kitchen sink, bathroom sink, the junk drawer that everyone has in the kitchen, straightened all the kitchen cabints and cleaned the kitchen garbage can. I actually feel like I am gaining control of my house again, lol. Next week my focus is on the Master bedroom, I have already done a lot of decluttering in there last month but I am hoping that Pat will get interested in his areas, before I do, lol.

I carried Kyle, Blake and Brooke shopping today for Chris. Blake had a blowout in a pair of pants this week and Brooke had one in her shoes. Chris had to work today so I went shopping on his money, lol. Kyle got 2 pair pants and a shirt, Blake got 3 pair shorts and Brooke got a pair of shoes, then we ate lunch at Pizza Inn.

There is still no progress on the lakehouse, not sure what is going on but seems it will be at least 2 more weeks before we will get any work done. :(

I will be in training for the next 2 weeks and I so dread it, lol. Training is usually just 1 week, but they have some special stuff for us, lol. :( I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this traing stuff. In fact I am hoping this will be the last time I have to go, legally I could miss my training in April and not be delinquet before I retire, lol. I kinda doubt they will let me do that but I am going to try.

February Woes!!!!

This week has been a busy week for me at work, in fact I have to work tomorrow, so I figure I better post now. I find it strange that I have been so busy and not really anything exciting to share, lol. We had thought we would be going to the Lakehouse this weekend, but it just seemed we should wait until there is progress to see. I had hoped the weather being nice a few days would get the guys working on the house in high gear, but sorry to say it has not. This week the problem has been the 2 young boys in jail. That's a new excuse anyway. Seems one of them has a bad ex-wife, lol. I don't know the details or the real story but apparently the judge thought they were not telling the truth. Supposedly the ex-wife's boyfriend ran them off the road and they filed charges and when they went to court the witness got 10 days in jail and the one who has the bad ex-wife got 5 days....GO FIGURE?????? So hopefully by the time they get their stuff together the weather will be better and about 2 weeks work should get them out of there....If I did not like and trust Larry, the contractor I would be upset with them not being finished. I will not be able to make my February goal of getting everything moved that is getting moved. Oh well enough of my whining about that.

If you have not noticed, I did focus on the blog background and finally gave it a new look. I still want to add a few things to it, but have not found the right thing yet. I do wish others would get them a blog going. Come on Susan, you have so much to share with us, one day you are gonna regret not doing this. Jacy, you need to start one as well, I know you are really busy planning the wedding and probably don't want to share all the plans with us just yet, but hopefully you will start one so you can show off the wedding pictures and share some stories with us...its just too hard to remember things to tell us when you see us and usually so much going on its hard to get all the details on everyone. Honestly if it was not for the blog I would never know what Tracy is up to.

I have been getting caught up on Dr. and dental appointments this week. Wednesday I had to get my yearly mammogram, Thursday was dental checkup and Friday morning was Dr. Appointment. Friday I was late getting to work.I had been at work about 30 minutes and I ghot a phone call from one of the guys I work with, Grady. Grady is Tracy's age and we have always been buddies, even with me being off shift for over 10 years, he still comes by to visit with me on occcasion. He asked "What have you been up to?" I said " Not really much of anything but work" He says "You have been up to something, I saw you walking across the parking lot and you have shrunk." I said "Thanks you have made my day! I have been dieting and just got back from the Dr" We continued discussing weight and diets and families and such for a bit. I will say there are some folks I work with that I will miss when I retire. The Dr was surprised today at how much I had lost, he even told me to eat more breakfast than what I have been eating and that I should treat myself to a Reese Cup or something, lol. I have a buch more pounds to go but I am off to a good start. This Dr. is really encouraging me to use my Wii Fit and told me of a new program I should get..he has the Wii, also so we had a Wii conversation for a bit, lol.

As far as the rest of the household, they are all doing fine, I do beleive the grades are looking better. I have seen the books out at night. Pat is just trying to stay warm, he did get out a bit this week. I guess he lost interest in the Wii cause I have not heard anything more about him using it.

No pictures this week and not even any OLDIES to post. Hope everyone had a safe week.
