Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

Last of April

This week was another tough one.....I was in training and that always makes for a tough week....I just don't want to study and makes me mad to have to make myself. This week we did fine on the Monday morning as found simulator performance exam.....then on Thursday we had 2 test... I admit I double stressed on the 2 test but passed both just fine... I am such a worry wart ... I think I come by it honest. OH!!!!!!! The best news for the week is Frannie is History!!!!!!!!!

I did go to Tanners game on Tuesday and I even carried the camera and got a few pictures. He really has a nice team and I enjoy watching them play. I think they have won all the games so far.

I had to work at the plant on Wednesday after class and we are so behind and its gonna rain anyway so I decided I should work on Friday and take the next Friday off to go check on the lakehouse. Friday night the boys went to RELAY FOR LIFE at one of the highschools and stayed all night... I guess its a fun thing for the kids and adults to go hang out and walk the track and visit... seems to be a big thing. I did not sleep much......geeesh Chris got up to go to work and Kyle still not home lol it was over at 6 a.m. so I figured 6:30 was time to call and check on Kyle since it was thundering....He was on his way home and at 10:30 Blake remembered the football physicals were today so I woke Kyle to go do that just in time too....They went and got the physical and back home to crash. Spring Training starts on Monday so this next week will be interesting. Kyle is gonna be a senior and lil bro Blake is a freshman. Tyler is doing much better on the medications but they are in Florida until Wednesday then he should get started in Spring training as well.

Oh I am quiet proud of myself tonight as I think about what I did accomplish this weekend. I finally got started at the tanning beds on Friday ... woooo hooo I been trying to do this for weeks. I also cleaned out my closet ...putting away winter stuff and getting out summer stuff. I even got Pat to clean on his side of the closet some.... I am truly looking forward to having seperate closets in the new addition at the lakehouse. Speaking of the lakehouse... this week they accomplished a lot sounds like. They got the wall studs up and the roof trusses up and the outside wrapped except a spot left open to get the bathtubs in. I should have some good pictures next week. I can hardly wait until this next weekend. Oh I have lost total control of myself on the dieting and I can't even remember to post that I have blown it for 2 months now... I guess I am OK with it, but I will say I feel better when I diet. It is really hard to focus on not eating, lol. I know I can lose weight I just gotta find the right combination. By the way I have been quit smoking 2 years.

2nd Week of April

Spring Breaks and Easter s last a long time this year. We have always had more than one Christmas but this is the 1st time I recall having 2 Easters. Brooke has been being here during Easter for as long as I can remember, this year with Easter early and Brooke's spring break at a different time we had Easter 2 times. That means 2 Rabbit cakes, lol.

Tanner and Brooke hunted the eggs.

Blake hid the eggs.

The computer has all the kids attention. These 5 really get along pretty good most of the time.

Blake being his lil mischevious self. He just can't help it and who better to pick at bud "Dear Ole Dad".

Brooke left on Monday and went back to North Carolina. It is always a sad time for all of us. Tanner and Tyler came by after school to say bye to her. I had to say bye before I left for work, but it will onluly be 7 weeks til we go get her for the summer.

The rest of the week went fast. we went to Tanners game on Tuesday and they won again was a very good game. I missed the Thursday night game cause we were on the road to Bama, and I have not heard how that went. Kyle and Blake did get their progress reports on Thursday and I know Kyle's were acceptable but I have not heard if he got his wheels back.

We have been at the lake this weekend and here are a few pics of the progress. We are leaving after I post this headed back to Mississippi and hope to come back next weekend and see some walls up, lol.

This is a view of the azaleas...

This is the view of the carport or the beginning of the carport.

This is where the covered porch and
1 bathroom will be and also a pantry
off from the kitchen.
This is the new air conditioner for the existing part... we also got all new ductwork there and there is a big difference in the airflow for sure. I think we will see a big difference this summer.
This is a picture of the floor joist in the bedroom addition. I think we will have plywood floors and walls when I come back.
This is a picture of the bulk head that is being built to allow an easier access to the basement area that is there now, we will be able to use this for storms we hope.
This is a view from the road side of the
future entry to the house from the front.
I will post pictures as I get them. I hope to go look evert 2 weeks for sure and every week when I can.

1st WEEK of APRIL

This is a quick update, before I forget what happened last week. I have a good excuse for not posting on time, Our Cable TV and Internet is out due to the storms Friday. I was at work when the worst hit and have been isolated from the news so I don't know what happened but the only place in town with power on Saturday was Walmart and McDonalds. The cell phones did not work at times but we had electricity and regular phones which was more than many.

Pat was in Bama and they started the Lakehouse addition. It seems slow to start with but I know its just the foundation work and it will get better. I am pleased with the contractor, he calls if he has questions and is easy to work with. I think he will even be patient as I change my mind many times on things. I will post a few photo's of the 1st week that Pat took and sent me. Basically we have done more destruction at this point, lol.

WE have taken apart the carport pavillion and hope to put it back together over at Dad's for him to use.

They removed the old heating and cooling system and tore out all the old ductwork under the house during the rainy days.

They have dug out at the basement door and prepared to build this bulk head that will let you walk down into the basement from the deck(once we have a deck there again), instead of crawling under the deck to get to the door, this will also have a sealed door on top of the deck to keep water out etc.

They have dug the footers for the bedroom addition and on the opposite end for the garage addition. The trusses are being made and hopefully they will be laying blocks this week and installing the new ductwork and a/c unit for the existing part of the house.

Pat got Pete to help him with a piece we needed to be able to get the blinds installed in a few weeks. The azaleas are looking good and we hope to see them full bloom.

Thursday night Brooke came to visit for her Spring break. She may be kinda bored this week with no Tv or Internet. Friday Chris tried to take her to eat but there was no where to eat. They could not even rent movies at that time. Saturday I was gonna carry her shopping but no where to shop. We did do Mcdonalds and Walmart and even rented movies in the dark with cash. Tanner surprised Brooke with Easter baskets that Tracy had got for them. WE still need to hide eggs.
Saturday evening Pat returned from Bama and got to see Brooke just a bit before she and Blake went to Tanners. Sunday Pat and I had the house to ourself most of the day. We watched movies. Papaw Pat did take Brooke to get doughnuts on Monday and to the river front.Monday evening Tanner and Tyler came to visit. I think the meds for Tyler are doing good. So nice to have him just come hang out with us. We made our own pizza's for supper, the kids seem to like that...Tuesday we were gonna go hear Tanner and the rest of Tracy's choir, but I guess I had a senior moment and forgot it was at the city auditorium and not the school so when we figured this out it was too late to go. We did go to his ballgame and hour later. Was a good game and They won, in fact it was a close game and tied and YES! our Tanner got walked to 1st and then made the scoring run that gave us the win. Thursday we had Tanner and Tyler again and I carried Brooke and Tanner shopping for thier spring outfit. Tanner was so dirty and had no extra clothes so he borrowed from Blake. Tanner kinda looks like a wigger, but we love him anyway and he got some new clothes out of the deal 1st stop so we did not have to be seen with him long, lol.
I picked up Pizza for supper, Tyler and I
had taco bell, lol they have burned us out on pizza.

Tyler informed me when I got home that he has strep and I think he may be right. Tyler and Tanner both spent the night with us. I tell you it is nice to have Tyler hanging out with us again.

The work side of life is bout the same.... I have been in training part of this week and part of last week and did test today and pass. I have to work my OFF Friday this week but thats cool, since I want extra money for house projects.
