Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

Febuary Ends, Finally!

I have decided that even though Febuary is the shortest month it last longer than the others, lol.

This post will cover the last 2 weeks of Febuary....I have been working all week and this is Sunday and I am off. I wanted to try to post the happenings of the past week while I have time and hopefully I can remember something besides work. This is really hard since I have spent most of my time at work or asleep. As for me I have still been dieting still losing slowly, still not exercising, finished another puzzle and I did fall off the diet some this week with the long hours and not prepared for them... so I survived on bacon, eggs and salad all week and then cheated some. But I am not mad at me and know I will be good for a bit. The week was kinda slow at work thru Friday and I did get a chance to talk to some folks and catch up on the happenings in thier lives. Saturday, was busy and I got Pat to pick me up ribs for supper.... I was very dissapointed they just were not good... maybe I am spoiled to Nick and Jims in Jasper .... but theses were tough and over cooked and that is the last time I get ribs at that place.

Pat has kept his recliner held down this week.... he did go to deer camp on Saturday and help with fertilizer. I did get Pat to make a walmart run for me and it was so nice to not have to go on my one day off.

I just realize , I have no clue what anyone did all week ... by the time I get home they are almost ready for bed so its a brief hello and check of the day. Kyle and Blake have been at thier Mom's this weekend so I just have no idea what they did. Blake did call earlier, I think he wanted us to tell him to come home... lol. Thier mom is still moving so I guess they have been working.

Gosh I really thought my post could not get any more boring than they were in January but I was wrong.

I have been off today and basically slept in and surfed all afternoon at landscaping stuff and looked at lakehouse photo's.... I am getting a bad case of spring fever ....I am ready to start the addition at the lake and just can't get it started. My schedule at work has been so iffy all year that I can't setup any apt for building contractors and be able to make it. Sooooooo here I am just dreaming. I absolutely have to do something new this spring at the lake and if I am not gonna start the addition ....I have to come up with some project, that kinda don't leave much but outside stuff.

The last week of Febuary I spent working the long hours, however I did notice the first flag of spring had bloomed and had to take a picture.

There was no real excitement here this week....I did kinda blow my diet this week but I am back on track... I did good yesteday... Blake and I went to walmart and I walked right by the Girl Scout Cookie Girls and never bought a box... That has been my New Year Resolution buster for many years and I am gonna overcome that, lol. Although I did not succeed in doing my workouts in Febuary...I was able to drop a few pounds and Now I know I have got to get back on a serious track for March. This 1st weekend of March has been gorgeous I think SPRING is here!

MID FEBRUARY 2008

This week has been a little busier so maybe it is SPRING after all. I have been in training this week, which always makes me more anxious for my retirement. Have I told ya lately that I only have 16 months and 14 days left until I retire. I have managed to diet all week but I still have not done the exercise thing, I am mad at my self about not taking control of my non actions.....I am sure I will get this started just as soon as everything lines up just right, lol. Tuesday I did go on a plant tour and get some extra benefit from it which I can count as exercise. Me and my training team of 5 men and 1 instructor had our tour and being that one team member is an exercise nut and soooo in shape and leader of the team lead us up probably 8 flights of stairs from elevation 119' to 166' that is 47 feet of stairs and I survived, but talk about noodle legs lol I had them and could not talk, lol. Was very good for me to be pushed, that maybe what I have to do get someone to push me...I could tell ALL THEM MEN WERE THINKING THEY WOULD HAVE TO PUSH ME UP THEM STAIRS, LOL. The training progressed and Thursday exams went fine... We did very good on our team performance and I only missed 1 on the written exam. Friday I worked and then I went to pick up my new glasses.... I have been wearing safety glasses that work pays for for my regular glasses, because 2 pair is too confusing and hard to keep up with. The only problem is they are heavy and I have decided I am sick of them... so I broke down and bought me some very light weight ones, the frames are made of titanium. I think I am gonna really like them.

Pat left on Tuesday going to Bama to go with Randy to check out a job before bidding on it and also to take care of some things out there. He got his old Bass boat out of the shop and ready to sale. He also picked up the jet ski that had been there for many months. I think we are supporting the boat repairman pretty good this year. Hopefully the old bass boat will sale this spring.

The boys brought home more progress reports and no major problems. This has been a tough week for them, they went to visit the family of their friend that killed himself a couple times and then to the funeral on Wednesday. I am looking forward to things getting back to normal for them. Kyle's friend Morgan came over one night to visit. Friday Blake went to spend the night with a friend, Kyle went out, Chris had to work and I watched a movie and enjoyed the quiet.

Oh! on Tuesday I found out Brooke was coming to visit. She and Holly were gonna fly in so Holly could visit a friend that is very sick and will not be with us much longer. This is the friend that gave Brooke the dog, Molly in the fall.

Saturday, Kyle helped me to put up new curtain rods in my bedroom and hang the lacey curtains in there.. looks real good... much better than they did in his room, lol.

Then I made a stop over at Tracy's to check out the work in progress and seems they got it going on just fine. I also picked up Tanner to go with me to Jackson airport to pick up Brooke and Holly. We got there just as they were taxiing in. We stopped at Applebee's on our way home to eat and it was real good.. I had grilled shrimp and salad and it was good. I dropped Holly off at her friends and me, Brooke and Tanner went to my house.

Chris, Blake and Brooke went to rent movies while I cooked. It has rained here til noon and just kinda a couch potato weekend. Tanner spent part of the night, lol.

It was a good weekend and Sunday was just laid back and I needed the rest. I did not even cook other than breakfast. Blake became ill that afternoon and I was afraid the rest of us would get his stomach virus. We seem to all have missed it. The kids were out of school on Monday, and Chris was off too so that worked out good...... Me and Tracy had to work:(. Brooke left on Tuesday but we had a nice visit and she will be back in April for a week. As things have turned out I started working the 12 hour shift again on Tuesday, but hopefully only for a couple weeks. I am thinking this will pay off my last credit card and get me set for a year of just normal living expenses for a year before I retire. BTW have I told you lately that I have only 16 months and 9 days until I retire.
Also I would like to mention that Reunion will not be the Saturday before the 4th because I have my annual requal that week and have to be at work thru that Friday. There is no way I can test all week and be a host for reuion the next day. It will be the following weekend.....I would like input from all on if they want it on the 4th, 5th or 6th. We are hoping that Brandon and Christi can make this one since she is not PG and we want to show off the twins and Emma. So let me know your thoughts on this.

IS IT SPRING YET? Febuary 2008

Late posting this because I was hoping to get a picture of Blake all dressed up for his dance and thought Squeekie was gonna get it to me on Monday....DUH!!!! New excuse anyway, lol.

I really can not think of anything special that happened this week...I know I should write daily so I can remember better.

As for me ...I am still on the diet...did not do any exercise this week... bad I know. Worked like normal all week.

Pat best I can tell he did not do anything out of the ordinary this week...I think he is bored .. just needs spring to get here. The kids say it is spring... has been a few nice days in the latter part of the week. I saw buttercups on my way to work too.

Chris had the 2 days off and started Nights on Tuesday night so he has basically been sleeping eating and working.

Kyle and Blake have been bringing home progress reports and so far they have all been good... they get the rest of them tomorrow. Kyle has been doing some chores like washing his dad's truck etc. He also has put in a couple applications for a job this week. He needs gas money most of the time, lol. Blake went to the dance on Saturday night and from what I can tell he had a good time... he danced with the girls and gosh I just don't know the right questions to ask I guess. No pictures yet but hopefully will have them before I post this. The boys are both kinda in a depressed mood so I really do not have a clue about their weekend. A friend of theirs shot himself over a girl Saturday night and the funeral will be Wednesday... so sad ...I don't even know what to say to them to make them feel better. I guess Kyle got a call just as he got to his Mom's Saturday night and wanted to go to hospital ...he did and his mom went with him.. Apparently many boys were there I guess they just had to see or be there...

Saturday Pat and I did go to Jackson and buy a miracle foam mattress topper for our bed. We both been waking up hurting for a while and decided to try this.... We also went to Red Lobster.... and I ordered jumbo shrimp 3 grilled, 3 fried, 4 shrimp scampi... I even chose broccoli instead of baked potatoe and was full on shrimp so just ate a few bites of brocolli. We came back by Tracy's to see thier den project and new appliances.....looking good over there... will let her fill you in. I did buy some navy blue curtains to put up in Kyle's room and take the lacy ones down.

Sunday we were able to lay in bed longer than normal and it does feel great and is very comfy, cooler than the feather topper we had...but we still hurt. I am sure mine is better just not gone... I have done decided I have to have another for the lakehouse.

I think Kyle will be OK I just got a text message from him asking if Morgan can come over for a bit. So maybe she will come over and make him feel a lil better.

Old photo's:

2008 Febuary Begins

This is gonna be a real short post, with no current pics but do scroll down for the old pictures.

It is really hard to make intersting reading out of a boring week, lol. I worked all week even my off Friday; I needed to work and heck might as well make money when nothing good to do. I did go to the dentist this week and did go get the mammogram. I also did my 15 minutes of exercise 1 day...duh now that Febuary is here I must do better. I am still on the diet and losing slowly but losing weekly about 2 lbs.

Pat started out the week keeping Tanner who was sick on Monday... and then he kept him again on Thursday... Tanner has had the flue. I missed seeing him both days which may be good since I do not want the flue. Saturday Pat and Kyle went to deer camp to get the stands out of the woods.

The boys have had a good week with working out and school. Kyle went out the weekend with his buddies and is learning lots about how you can waste gas all in one night. Blake recieved an invite to the WINTER BALL so he and I went to buy him a suit on Friday when I got off work and we lucked up and found a perfect fit. I will post a pic of him next week when he gets dressed up for the dance. He loves to shop and nice clothes.

Chris has worked 12 hrs another week but found out Saturday he would be off on Sunday and Monday. He was thrilled to be off for the Super Bowl and the boys were thrilled he was off... they really miss him when he is working so much.

We all enjoyed the Super Bowl and YES our team won. Kyle and I finished the puzzle we had started this week just in time to make our snacks for the ball game. I made pigs in blanket, chicken tenders, cheeses and crackers, chips and dip for the non dieters. I fixed chicken wings for me and Chris. I had some other things planned for me and Chris but we just were not very hungry.

This pic is Me and Randy and Dad's sisters Charlotte and Diane. I think the dog's name was Champ.

Ronny holding baby sister Sherri (with the pink bow taped to her bald head) Me, Randy standing.

Ronny, Me, Susan, Sherri, and Randy standing. This must have been about 1968.

This is me standing in front of dad's business truck....I think I even remember having those phone numbers. I think the one I am hiding is 4-4975... that was before you had to add the 1st 2 digets when dialing. Now in Mississippi for a local cal even we have to dial the area code such that the dialed number is 10 digets.

I must have been 5 here again at the Cunningham house we lived in before Mom and Dad built the house they live in now. This was probably in 1959.
