Retirement Life at the Lakehouse

I retired June 2009 and I have spent much more time at The Lakehouse. I have enjoyed each and every day and have not had a bored moment. I stay so busy doing things I want to do that I rarely find myself idle. I guess with the major remodeling complete there has not been as much to post. This is a new phase of life at The Lakehouse and maybe I can post retirement memories.

November Ends

As November comes to a close I sit here trying to remember where the year has gone. Life just needs to slow down a bit, I say.

I guess the main topic here has been deer hunting and food, lol. School here was out the week of Thanksgiving, so Chris and the boys prepared the week before to go to deer camp for a week. Kyle was so excited to be where he has his own wheels and be able to go without waiting on Pat or Chris to take him. The guys got there camo clothes all washed up and went shopping for food to carry. The plan was to leave on Friday soon as school was out and have at least thru Thanksgiving Day to hunt, then Chris would have to start nights. Kyle bless his heart came in from school on Friday sick, upchucking etc. He felt so bad he was not even mad about being sick.... Chris went on to camp and Kyle waited hoping to feel better then go. He and Blake did go later that night and was able to hunt by morning. Pat don't do mornings well and he sleeps in then does the evening hunt and comes back home to get his sleep, that gives the boys more room in the camper. I told the guys we will have Thanksgiving whenever they want, but I ask they give me a days notice and that I am off on Wednesday. So I get a text on Tuesday from Kyle telling me its gonna rain Wednesday and that might be a good time, so we made the plan Wednesday 5:30 ish we would eat.. there would be plenty and if they hunted til dark that would be fine too. I woke Wednesday morning to Kyle coming in the door... he was ready for food other than from a can and a bath. I spent the day cooking and watching movies with Kyle as I could.

Tracy and Rusty and the boys came and we had Thanksgiving. Turkey and dressing, Chicken and dumplings, sweet potato casserole, cream potatoes, butter peas, rolls, fruit salad, chocolate pie, cream cheese pound cake and chocolate pound cake. I finally got to see one on the lil seizures that Tyler has been having for gosh 6 months... He actually had 2 while here and fell in the floor both times, I tell you I am hoping they get this figured out and medicated and stabilized before summer... I just can't stand to think about him being in the lake and have a spell....I may have to rethink the ski belt swimming thing. Just as we finished eating, Chris and Blake came in just as we figured, worked out great I guess for all, lol. I think the dumplings were the biggest hit, closely followed by the dressing and pound cakes. Kyle left before bedtime to go back to camp to be there for the morning hunt. There was plenty of leftovers and we ate again on "Thanksgiving Day". After lunch on Thursday Pat went to deer camp for the afternoon hunt.

I knew something was wrong when the back door opened before dark and in came Kyle followed by Pat. Seems Kyle had wrecked his truck.......he was ummm messing with the cd player and the road turned but he did not...so he went off the road and down in the woods......hit a tree....and was lucky he did not roll it. I am not sure of all the damage but he was able to drive it out and back to camp... called Papaw Pat and they checked it out a bit to find a hole in the radiator...bumper messed up maybe the hood. Kyle was mad at self ... but was a good lesson and he now knows it will happen and what better place to happen than at deep camp on roads with no traffic, I think he learned a very valuable lesson. I guess the plan is to get the truck towed home and let Kyle take the radiator off and Pat take it to get repaired....if possible, then Kyle will put it back on... so he will get some good experience as well as learn from this.

The truck has a lil smile.

Kyle is thinking man I messed this up, lol.

This is Thursday and Kyle did good getting his truck running and back on the road.... and Blake is soooo happy cause he can sleep later and not ride the bus, to school, lol. Kyle was really lucky he did not get hurt and that Papaw was home where he could help him fix it. Pat was where he could get the truck towed home and take the radiator to be fixed while Chris was working and Kyle was at school instead of waiting for the off days. Kyle was able to do the work in the afternoons. They were able to repair the radiator so he came out pretty cheap as well.

AS November ends we start thinking about December and more holiday time. Will be a very busy month but I do enjoy December. I look forward to doing a lil bit of Christmas decorating at the lakehouse in the near future.

FALL - Halloween, Football and Such

Tracy is not setting a good example for me on this blog stuff....Life is too boring or too busy to post, I guess. I have been really bad on taking pictures as well but will attempt to catch up on both here.

Halloween was loads of fun, we went begging for goodies and enjoyed the nice weather and walk. Brooke and Tanner were surprised when Holly brought an unexpected friend. Seems Holly has finally let Brooke have a puppy. When we finished the trick or treat we all went to eat.

I had gum surgery last Thursday and then drove on to the lake. Pat had gone a few days earlier to get some of the work done so we could go to the ball game where Kyle's team was in 1st round State playoff. The game would be closer to us at the lake than if we were in Vicksburg. We left the lakehouse on Friday afternoon and had a leisurely drive to West Point which was about 2.5 hours away. It was a very nice pleasant drive..... we listened to my oldies and enjoyed the fall leaves as we drove. ALABAMA is just so much prettier than MISSISSIPPI anytime of year. We lost the ball game but our guys went down trying to recover from a very bad 1st quarter and had they not given ... and I mean given ....West Point 2 touchdowns in 1st quarter we would have won. Final score was 24 to 14. WE actually fumbled and gave them the ball 2 times on their 1 yard line.......we had horrible field position all night.....but our guys did not give up...WE are PROUD of them!!!!

Our Saturday football was not much better... Mississippi State beat Alabama , which is gonna be hard to handle for a few weeks... but State has had a much better team than normal and had a great game and ummmm well Bama just lost. Auburn got beat as well by Georgia... least Christi and Brandon had 1 winning team this weekend, lol. I think Arkansas got beat as well ... so was just bad football for us all the way around.

Our visit to the lake was nice... we rarely see the fall leaves until they are already on the ground .....I just could not stop looking at how pretty they were and the hills and hollers. See if any of you can recognise the video I am gonna post. Deer season starts this weekend so the guys are getting all ready for that and Pat will be back from Bama in time to get ready.I guess I will be bored or catch up on my putr project or sewing projects. It is really hard to remember past a week on what has been going on here... I know we gained a licensed driver in October and Brooke was here for a week and Halloween and Kyle and Chris had birthdays. I can't believe it is like 10 days til Thanksgiving and I have not even thought about what we will do or where we will eat, lol. Enjoy the pictures and I will try to do better.
